Well, at least flattery will get you me to look at your website and consider you as a partner for my branding design clients. Which is what I did when I received one of the best marketing emails ever. A potential web design partner, Penji, sent me a complimentary email using my own blog post as the subject on my marketing site.
Marketing Should Create Customer Experiences
I am a big believer that one of the roles of sales and marketing is to create meaningful and memorable customer experiences. Hence, the name Customer 1st Marketing. I try to use this philosophy throughout all my clients’ marketing touchpoints, websites, emails, calls, social media, etc. In simple terms, this is an important element of your brand. It is how you want your customers to perceive you.
This email is a perfect example. It sets expectations that I will be treated and valued as a customer. And it does so WHILE pitching me and creating a clear call to action.
Truthfully, I get at least 3 web/graphic design pitches a day. Most focus on the pricing of their service and that’s fine. But my web partner, Technomind, has worked on many engagements so while pricing is important, we have a shared business philosophy, Customers First.
Take the Time to Understand Your Customer
One of the first things we do is get to know our potential customers. It can be hard without a website but after our initial call, we do a fantastic job of capturing requirements. This lets our clients know that we heard them and what they need. It also helps us price the job and we can almost guarantee on-time delivery.
For Penji the FLATTERING email showed that they did their homework on Customer 1st Marketing. They also happened to pick the blog post that sets up why I’d be open to a partnership.
So I did what they asked, visited their website, made an appointment and I am happy to see the journey this email has taken me on.
